Our philosophy

I have been working with dogs and learning from professional trainers since 2005. Constantly, I hone my strategies and energy to be able to offer a high-standard dog training service.

My sessions and board programs are incredibly successful, especially when both myself and my clients work together in agreement with the same goal in mind: to achieve real world results using the most effective and humane techniques.
I offer many different options in my approach but I will always give my highest recommendations based on what is best for your dog.

I consider myself to be a balanced trainer, meaning I use a variety of tools and techniques instead of staying ‘inside the box’. One of my beliefs is that all dogs are different which requires the flexibility of an open mind and dissolution of any personal agendas we might have when we are working with them.
That being said, I always implement tried-and-true methods that will guarantee you and your dog an increase in trust, respect, and overall responsiveness.

Energy, interaction, and environment have a huge influence in making a dog into who he currently is. Lack of discipline and structure in any lifestyle will inevitably create imbalance. So the bad behaviour and unreliability your dog may be exhibiting are symptoms that point to a deeper problem in your relationship. Bribery won’t fix that. Tools won’t fix that. Dominating your dog won’t fix that. We have to address the source, which is almost always crossed-up lines of communication. The goal is for the dog-human connection to flow seamlessly.

I believe in reducing all need for overly-physical handling because when you lead with clarity and properly address the state of mind, the body will follow. This is why so many of my clients are left in awe when we are able to change their reactive, bristling predator into a calm, happy dog who is walking beside us within one session, with less force than what was previously being used to restrain the dog.

Providing clear, all-round feedback to your dog is the core of my approach. Just like in our society, we have rules which are upheld by consequences. Some of those consequences are in place to encourage good choices and others are meant to discourage us from making the wrong choices. So, although positive-only training sounds pretty appealing, it is simply unrealistic. However, by utilizing all ends of the behavioural conditioning spectrum, there is something I can guarantee… only positive results :)

Several of my regular techniques include the use of the following: favourite rewards (food, toys, freedom), use of directional tools (herm sprenger collar, spacial pressure, mini Educator remote collar), and use of fair corrections (bop towel, audible stimulus). I also advocate for adding crate training into your dog’s daily routine during the training process, especially if your dog is under 2 years old or recently adopted.

My services are not available to just anyone. My elite clientele are people who are determined to change their own energy, approach, and lifestyle to create and fulfill their dream dog. They are stubborn about their goals and flexible about their methods.
I strive to always be honest with my clients which allows me to be clear on what is expected and how we are going to achieve success. My business is based on our positive results, meaning my training is focused on getting you the best results possible with full consideration to the dog’s wellbeing. Without commitment to accomplishing homework and sticking to the game plan we agree on, it will end up being a waste of time, energy, and money for both sides. It is a team effort and we want to be on the winning side!

The path to balance is not always easy but the destination is always worth it. Are you in?
